Four U.S. military servicemen are suspected of forming a militia group with the aim of assassinating President Barack Obama and overthrowing the government, the Detroit Free Press daily reported.
All four are currently under arrest and Prosecutor Isabel Pauley says that “the militia group of active and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components.”
According to the daily, the group, which called itself F.E.A.R. (Forever Enduring Always Ready), plotted a series of anti-government attacks, including bombing a dam in the state of Washington and poisoning the state’s apple crop.
They are also suspected of killing their group’s comrade and his girlfriend to keep their plans secret after he had decided to leave the group.
The daily also said citing prosecutors that so far only four people were arrested, but there could be more members of the militia group.
