All patients will be discharged from a Kiev hospital that has been chosen to serve foreign football fans during Euro 2012, which kicks off in Ukraine and Poland on June 8, the country’s 1+1 television channel has reported, quoting the hospital’s chief doctor.
Starting from Thursday, the Alexandrovskaya Hospital in the Ukrainian capital will no longer accept local patients, Roman Vasylyshin told the TV channel.
“By June 7, all those who are still weak at the moment will have to get well,” he said, adding that Ukrainian patients will only have to wait one month until the end of the championship to be allowed in the clinic again.
Vasylyshin later claimed the media had misinterpreted his words and said none of the patients who are still sick will be kicked out of hospital.
Media reports said the clinic had been refurbished ahead of the championship, and its staff had been studying English for half a year to be able to communicate with foreign patients.
