Laurent Fabius, who served as prime minister from 1984 to 1986, will be a new French Foreign Minister as Socialist party first secretary Martine Aubry will not be included in the government, French media reported on Wednesday.

On Wednesday French outgoing Prime Minister Francois Fillon handed his power to a new head of the government Jean-Marc Ayrault, who should form a new cabinet.

According to BFM TV news channel, Laurent Fabius will definitely take a prestigious post of foreign minister in the government of Ayrault.

The most likely candidate for the post of interior minister is still considered Hollande’s spokesman Manuel Valls.

The first secretary of Socialist Party Martine Aubry, who was one of the names considered for the post of prime minister, will not be included in the government.

“We discussed this issue with Francois Hollande on Monday. He told me that he chose Jean-Marc Ayrault. We believe that in this configuration (of government) my presence does not make sense,” French newspaper, Le Monde, quoted Aubrey as saying.
