Kazakhstan wants to build Russian helicopters on its territory, the country’s Emergency Services Minister Vladimir Bozhko said on Friday at an acceptance ceremony for two new Ka-32A11BC helicopters.
“We are hopeful that Russian Helicopters will return kit assembly of helicopters to Kazakhstan, because we successfully export not only helicopters of various brands, but traditionally we work with the Mi-17 and Mi-171 from the Kazan plant, which has very good characteristics,” he said.
Kazakhstan’s Emergency Ministry is reequipping its entire fleet of helicopters. The co-axial rotor Ka-32 will be used in the firefighting, rescue and medevac roles.
Kazakhstan signed a deal with Eurocopter in 2010 to assemble its EC145 helicopters in Kazakhstan.
