Taliban has claimed responsibility for a murder of a British aid worker from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Khalil Dale who was found decapitated on Sunday in southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta, Dawn News TV channel reported.

Dale’s decapitated body was found in Quetta four months after he was kidnapped in January as he was returning from work. Policemen found a note next to his body that said that it was Taliban who killed the aid worker, Dawn News said.

“They said that the ransom had not been paid,” a policeman told the TV channel referring to the letter from the murderers.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said in a statement on Sunday that he was “deeply saddened to hear today about the brutal murder of Khalil Dale – a man who was killed whilst providing humanitarian support to others.”

“This was a shocking and merciless act, carried out by people with no respect for human life and the rule of law,” Cameron said in the statement published by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Dale, a 60-year old Yemen-born British national is the third foreign citizen, decapitated by Pakistani militants. The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was killed in a similar way in 2002. Seven years later Taliban insurgents also killed a Polish geologist Piotr Stanczak, the TV channel said.
