Anders Behring Breivik, the man responsible for the bloody massacre in Norway last year, considered an attempt at the life of U.S. President Barack Obama, Norwegian media reported.

Obama visited Oslo to accept his Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. Breivik, a self-proclaimed “European anti-Marxist,” wanted to kill him in protest of the prize, which he said is traditionally awarded to people of leftist views, Dagbladet newspaper said on Sunday.

Breivik considered disguising himself as a policeman and killing Obama by blowing up a car laden with explosives, he said during police questioning, Dagbladet reported. He said he eventually dropped the plan as unfeasible.

Breivik, 33, is currently on trial for killing 77 people in a dual attack in Norway last July. The majority were participants of an island-based youth camp that he attacked in police uniform and shooting firearms, while eight were killed in a car blast in downtown Oslo staged as a diversion.

Breivik admitted to the killings, but did not plead guilty, saying his actions were a justified protest against globalization and advance of Islam in Europe. He faces 21 year in prison, the maximum possible punishment in Norway.

Breivik raised the money for the attacks through selling false education diplomas online, Verdens Gang tabloid reported on Sunday.

He had 3.6 million kroner ($600,000) in his accounts in mid-2000s, laundering at least 400,000 kroner of them with the help of his mother, the report said. Breivik said the attacks cost him 2.7 million kroner to stage, though police put the figure at a mere 300,000 kroner, Verdens Gang said.
