MOSCOW, March 28 (RIA Novosti)
Secret services worldwide use the help of the occult, with the Russians being most adept at the job, leaving the Americans and Israelis behind, a state-run Turkish television channel, TRT, said in an eyebrow raising report.
“Russian submarines gather intelligence through genies,” theologian and writer Mehmet Seker said on “The Great Chase” (Büyük Takip), a weekly political show, the Haber.sol.org.tr news website reported.
Seker did not elaborate but said the American CIA and Israeli Mossad also invoke “genies” for unspecified purposes but are not quite as good as the "Russian KGB" at using them. The KGB was shut down in 1991 and replaced by the Federal Security Service; it is unclear whether Seker was referring to the agency’s Soviet-era exploits or simply used its previous, better-known name.
NASA also sought once an expert on genies in Turkey, hoping the supernatural creatures could be put to use repairing satellites in orbit, said political analyst Omer Ozkaya, another guest of the show, which aired on Sunday.
None of the agencies named by Seker and Ozkaya commented on the story as of Wednesday.
TRT is Turkey’s most prominent television broadcaster, which was established in 1964 and retained a national monopoly on TV broadcasting for three decades.
Genies, or jinns, are one of the three sentient races created by Allah along with humans and angels, according to the Quran. Belief in genies remains widespread throughout the Islamic world; in 2011, several close allies of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were detained on accusations of sorcery and conspiring with genies.
