The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released classified documents on the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs, that were a part of a background check needed for Job’s possible appointment to a U.S. government post in 1991.
"The Bureau has been requested to conduct an expedite background investigation of the above-captioned subject [Jobs], who is being considered for presidential appointment,” the introductory section reads, referring to a post in the President’s Export Council during George H.W. Bush tenure in 1991.
A total of 191 pages of the classified files that are available on the FBI website reveal facts about Jobs' life, including the fact that he was subjected to a bomb threat in 1985, as well as his experiments with LSD, marijuana and other recreational drugs.
The document also contains interviews of Jobs' colleagues and friends who speak about his "good moral character" and "good character and integrity.”
At the same time, Jobs was portrayed as a manipulative person who “will twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals.”
Jobs, the heart and soul of Apple, died of pancreatic cancer on October 5, 2011, at the age of 56 just a day after the new Apple’s CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 4S in the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.
