Seven injured after passenger jet skids off runway in Kyrgyz Osh

Seven people were injured when a Kyrgyz passenger plane with 70 people on board crash landed on Wednesday at the airport of the Kyrgyz city of Osh, injuring two people, a spokesperson for Bishkek’s airport said.

At 12:05 p.m. local time the Kyrgyzstan Airlines aircraft Tu-134 en route from the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek skidded off the runway during landing, the spokesperson said.

 

“The landing was performed in thick fog. The plane skidded off the runway and turned to the left side. Its wing was smashed off. A loud explosion was heard.”

 

Seven people injured in the accident were sent to a local hospital, the Kyrgyz AKI-press news agency said.

 

The Bishkek airport is temporarily closed for landing. All flights between Bishkek and Osh are delayed, the airport’s spokesperson said.
