There is no military component in Iran’s nuclear program, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Friday.
Western powers and Israel suspect Iran of seeking to build nuclear weapons. Iran denies this, saying its program is civilian in nature. Speculation has been building that Israel is considering a preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
“We have verified data showing that there is no reliable evidence for the existence of a military component,” Ryabkov said.
“There is no proof of a military component in Iran’s nuclear program.”
It is essential to “clear all the remaining doubts through negotiations,” he said, adding that it was important for Iran to closely cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The IAEA said in a report released in early November that Iran continued nuclear weapons research and technology development after 2003, at a time when it declared a halt in its nuclear program. The report said that Iran had temporarily frozen nuclear activities, but that there was evidence the program continued to be carried out at a more modest pace.
Iranian officials slammed the report as a distortion of facts aimed at satisfying U.S. political interests.
IAEA chief Yukiya Amano has urged Iran to provide the requested clarifications regarding possible military dimensions to its nuclear program.

- arnoldvinette@yahoo.comImportant for Russia to stand by Iran18:38, 09/12/2011Having helped the Iranians build their civilian nuclear facilities, the Russian government is in a very good position to make the statement that there is not a weapon's component in Iran's nuclear facilities.
Article excert:

The bigger problem for the United States, Europe, Britain, Canada and NATO is that Iran has the 2nd largest oil reservoirs in the world and the western countries / oil companies would like to get control of that.
Oil supplies for the United States, Europe, Britain and Canada will begin to run out in 2020 and by 2030 all known oil reserves will become exhausted.
The more oil reserves that the United States, Europe, Britain and Canada can control the better.
If Iran even has a remote possibility of defending itself with a nuclear weapon this makes it more dangerous for the planned attack, invasion and occupation of Iran to secure their oil fields for Western control.
This is the real issue.
It is a well known fact that Israel, the United States and Britain all have large nuclear arsenals.
It is very important for Russia and China to support Iran and make sure that it is no bullied.
Russia is doing just this.
China too needs to show this support.
The biggest loser would be China if Iranian oil fields were seized for western use and consumption.
These comments are based on the Peak Oil information I have learned about that will begin affecting the United States, Europe, Britain and Canada beginning in 2020 and extending to 2030. Worldwide Peak Oil was reached in June 2006.

Ottawa, Canada - skipperThe Silver Rule00:28, 13/12/2011Do onto others as they do onto you.
I believe it is time for Russia to make a deal with Iran. Iran will allow Russia access to the drone, and Russia should honour the contract to supply the S-300 air defence system to Iran. Russia has to show Washington its displeasure with recent actions the West has taken, such as: - America will not give Russia a legal guarantee that the missile shield will not be used against Russia, meaning it will be used against Russia.
- The US State department and other US backed entities are interfering in the Russian election process, supporting the anti-Putin opposition.
I doubt Iran can re-engineer the drone on its own, but I believe Russia would have no problem re-engineering the drone. I also believe Russia has already sent Washington a message by helping Iran in the cyber attack, taking over control of the drone. America better stop treating Russia as an enemy, if America wants Russian cooperation; but until America stops its attacks against Russia, Russia should not hesitate to strike back - supply Iran with the S-300 missile air defence system.
Russia should also remember, America and Israel are one hand. America doesn't do foreign policy actions that are not supported by Israel and the jewish lobby, but don't expect Israel to admit to this cooperation.
