The International Atomic Energy Agency's resolution on Iran's controversial nuclear program was "unprofessional, illegal and politicized," Press TV quoted Iran's envoy to the IAEA as saying.
Iranian Ambassador Ali Asghar Soltanieh also accused IAEA chief Yukiya Amano of double standards.
"For the first time after half a century, Mr. Amano has violated the [IAEA] statute by treating the member states with discrimination, and he has given highly confidential documents and materials to certain states," he said.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors passed on Friday a resolution on Iran. The resolution, which was drafted by a group of international mediators, was passed by a 32-2 vote with one abstention. It urges Iran to provide access to its nuclear facilities for UN experts and cooperate with the IAEA.
"The United States tried its best, worked closely with Amano, trying to have a resolution, a tough resolution, but of course many countries did not accept. Therefore, they were forced to have a so-called mild resolution. The notion of resolution is disappointing, and this is a mistake,"
Soltanieh also said his country would boycott a meeting aimed at creating a Middle East free of nuclear weapons, scheduled for next week, Reuters reported.
He said that Amano in his report released last week had "not even talked about Israeli nuclear capabilities."
"While we are a strong proponent of a nuclear weapons-free zone we don't think that the meeting ... will be fruitful and successful. Therefore I must say we will not participate," Soltanieh said.
The resolution, which was drafted by a group of international mediators, was passed by a 32-2 vote with one abstention. It was sponsored by the Iran Six, including Russia, the United States, China, Britain, France and Germany.
