Representatives of South Korea and North Korea are holding talks with Russian officials in Moscow on resuming six-party talks on Pyongyang’s nuclear program, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

“Talks between Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin and South Korean chief nuclear negotiator Lim Sung-nam started today,” Lukashevich said.

“On October 28, the Foreign Ministry will host talks between First Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov and Borodavkin and North Korea’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan,” he said.

Six-party negotiations involving both Koreas, China, Russia, Japan and the United States broke down in April 2009, when Pyongyang pulled out. The United States wants Pyongyang to commit itself to disarmament before the negotiations are resumed, while North Korea wants no preconditions.
