North Korea is ready to resume six-party talks on its nuclear program without preliminary conditions, Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday.

North Korean Prime Minister Choe Yong Rim met with Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang and said that Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) also stands for the implementation of a joint statement of the Six-Party Talks from September 19, 2005, and the eradication of nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula.

North Korea has been subjected to several rounds of UN Security Council sanctions since it declared itself a nuclear power in 2005. The state broke off talks with South Korea, China, the United States, Japan and Russia on its nuclear program in April 2009, after the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution condemning its missile tests.
