Memorial services for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States will be held in Russian churches across the U.S., the Russian Orthodox Church reported.

Priests and parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in the United States will pray for the repose of those killed on September 11, 2001, when al Qaeda terrorists crashed two hijacked passenger jets into the World Trade Center in New York, and a third one into the Pentagon, killing about 3,000 people.

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, responsible for the attacks, was killed on May 2 in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad, north of the capital Islamabad, during a raid by U.S. Navy SEALs.
