KIEV, January 24 (RIA Novosti) - The funds obtained by Ukraine within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol in 2009 have never been transferred to the accounts of the Ecology Ministry or the State Environmental Investment Agency under the government of former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, the Ecology Ministry said on Monday.

A criminal case launched against Tymoshenko on December 31 accuses her of misusing state funds received from the sale of carbon emission quotas under the Kyoto Protocol to pay pensions.

The integrated treasury account is used to finance all government spending, including pensions. Under the Kyoto Protocol, proceeds from selling carbon emission quotas can be used only to finance environmental programs.

The Ecology Ministry's statement said that under Tymoshenko's government, 200 million euros was converted into Ukrainian hryvnas and transferred to the account of the State Treasury; another 90 million euros was credited to a deposit account.
