The lawyer for Belarusian ex-presidential candidate Vladimir Neklyaev, detained two weeks ago over participation in unsanctioned post-election rally in Minsk, on Monday announced he has filed an appeal against Neklyaev's detention.

Neklyaev has suffered a hypertensive crisis in the pretrial detention center where he is kept. Doctors gave the man several injections, but refused to hospitalize him.

The lawyer for Andrei Sannikov, another Belarusian ex-presidential candidate detained over participation in the same rally, told RIA Novosti he has already filed an appeal against the confinement of his ward, but the court dismissed the complaint.

Police dispersed the demonstration when the crowd tried to storm parliament following the announcement of election results. President Lukashenko claimed that foreigners were behind the protests.

On Monday, a Minsk police spokesman pledged that almost all of those detained the post-election protests would be released by the end of the day.

More than 630 people were detained at the rally and, so far, some 400 have been released.

The police spokesman said that several of those who have served their terms in pretrial detention center would be brought to trial over participation in the unsanctioned rallies.
