The CIS civil aviation body has informed the Polish authorities on details of its investigation into the plane crash in western Russia in which the Polish president was killed.

Chairperson of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) Tatyana Anodina met on Thursday with Polish interior minister Jerzy Miller, who also heads the governmental commission on investigating the April 10 crash near Russia's Smolensk.

"Miller had an opportunity to listen to fragments of records from the plane's voice recorder, he was also provided with the analysis of flight data recorders and the results of work conducted by Polish experts to identify voices in the cabin," IAC said in a press release.

Both sides expressed hope that the cause of the crash will be established "impartially and unambiguously, in the shortest time possible."

A Soviet-made Tu-154 aircraft crashed when it attempted to land in thick fog, killing all 96 people on board, including President Lech Kaczynski and other top state officials.
