BEIJING, November 6 (RIA Novosti) - At least 19 people have died and 13 others were injured when a truck slammed into a crowd in northern China on Thursday evening, Chinese official news agency Xinhua reported.
The accident occurred in the Zhaozhuangzi village in Luanxian county. According to the agency, the truck rear ended a passenger car and both vehicles slammed into the crowd.
Brake failure of the truck is suspected as the cause of the accident.
Both drivers have been detained and an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
China leads in the numbers of road accidents in the world. At least 100,000 people die in road accidents in China each year.
