MOSCOW, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - At least 10 passengers were killed and around 20 injured when two trains collided near the north Indian city of Mathura early on Wednesday, national media said.
The Press Trust of India said the Goa Samparkranti Express crashed into the stationary Mewar Express at 4:50 a.m. local time.
The agency said the death toll is likely rise, as passengers including children remain trapped under a damaged bogey.
The Times of India said that according to a preliminary probe, the driver of the Goa Express had ignored track signals.
Police said the military may be called in to help with the rescue operation.
