MOSCOW, July 7 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. President Barack Obama is due to meet with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on Tuesday during his visit to Moscow.

The talks will be held at Gostiny Dvor, in downtown Moscow, where Obama addresses graduates of the New Economic School, said Pavel Palazhchenko, the head of the Gorbachev Foundation press service.

Gorbachev and Obama first met in Washington in March 2009.

"That meeting between Gorbachev and Obama was short but interesting," Palazhchenko was quoted by Radio Mayak as saying. "They talked and obviously showed interest in each other and agreed to continue talks," he said.

At that time the former Soviet leader and the U.S. president discussed arms reduction. The agenda for Tuesday's talks, which comes as part of a much-trumpeted attempt by the U.S. to "reset" relations with Russia, remains unclear.

Obama, who met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday, signed a preliminary agreement, which will see nuclear arsenals cut to 1,500-1,675 operational warheads within seven years of a new arms reduction treaty coming into force.

Earlier on Tuesday, Obama met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin for the first time. Putin told Obama that Russia was hoping for better relations with the U.S. than with the previous U.S. administration.
