MOSCOW, March 31 (RIA Novosti) - The world's tallest building will be opened to the public in the United Arab Emirates in September 2009, a construction company spokeswoman told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

The Burj Dubai skyscraper is being built by Emaar Properties in Dubai.

According to the construction company's official site, the building currently stands at 160 stories (780 meters or 2,560 feet). However, the final height of the building has not been confirmed. According to some sources, the building may reach 1,000 meters by September.

The building includes business, residential, and retail space.

Construction of the Burj Dubai began in 2004. The estimated cost of construction is over $1 billion. Despite not yet being completed, it has already become the world's tallest building, outranking the KVLY-TV mast in the U.S. state of North Dakota, which is 628 meters tall.

The Korea Times reported on Monday that the world's second tallest skyscraper (133 floors) was scheduled to open in the South Korean capital of Seoul by 2015.
