BRUSSELS, August 12 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Shishlo) - Western Europe might face a diesel deficit by 2015, media reported Friday citing a Scottish think tank.
Analysts with Wood MacKenzie have forecasted that there will be a diesel deficit of 50 million metric tons, or 20% of consumer demand in 2015.
Experts said the deficit could be avoided if refineries in Western Europe, Middle East and Russia were upgraded. But considerable financing would be needed for this.
Western Europe currently consumes 200 million metric tons of diesel, and by 2015 this figure is forecasted to grow by 30% to reach 280 million tons, the Wood MacKenzie analysts said.
