Anders Behring Breivik Claims He Acted In “Self Defense”
08:03 GMT 17.04.2012 (Updated: 19:55 GMT 19.10.2022) On the first day of his long-awaited trial, Anders Behring Breivik admitted Monday to a bomb-and-shooting massacre that killed 77 people in Norway but pleaded not guilty to criminal charges, saying he was acting in self-defense. Breivik's lawyer, Frode Sulland, said the word "self defense" was misinterpreted from Norwegian into English and should have been interpreted as "principle of necessity."
