Tens of thousands of supporters of presidential candidate, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gathered at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow ten days before the March 4 elections. The rally was preceded by a march along the banks of the Moskva River. Police said 130,000 packed Luzhniki stadium prior to the arrival of Putin, who called them the defenders of the fatherland.
