The Chinese think the rabbit is the luckiest of all the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac. As the New Year approaches, everyone in China tries to buy a rabbit for himself and his family – be it a live rabbit at a pet shop or a toy at a department store or on the street.
Many want a live rabbit and want to keep it throughout the year. But this can be rather costly. For example, a dwarf Dutch rabbit costs between $90 and $120 in Beijing. Still, demand remains high.
