Russian President Dmitri Medvedev visited Moscow’s Sklifosovsky Hospital, where some of those injured in the Domodedovo bombing were brought in for treatment Monday.
The hospital’s director, Anzor Khubutia, told President Medvedev that the hospital had received 12 people injured in the suicide bombing at Domodedovo airport. He added that one of these patients was in critical condition.
All twelve of the patients reportedly sustained shrapnel wounds after a suicide bomber set off an explosive device at Moscow’s busiest airport on Monday.
The bomb, with an explosive power equivalent to 5 kilos of TNT, went off at 4:32 pm local time. According to preliminary reports from the Russian Emergencies Ministry, 35 people were killed in the attack and another 180 injured. More than one hundred survivors are now being treated at hospitals in Moscow and the surrounding region.
