The Vishnevsky Hospital was the first to use R.BOT-100, a mobile robot, to examine patients. Doctors use cameras and microphones to communicate with their patients over the Internet. The R.BOT-100 has wheels and can move.
The robot can travel at up to 4km/h. For safety reasons, its speed was limited to 1.5km/h during a trial ward round. Sensitive microphones transmit all sounds within a ten-meter range of the robot, and the sound level of the operators’ voice is adjustable. A camera with a 10x optical zoom allows the doctor to examine a patient online and see the test results.
