A seven-year old Russian boy who was adopted by an American couple flew from Washington to Moscow by himself. Children’s ombudsman Pavel Astakhov said that the boy had a note. “His adoptive parents said in the note that they had abandoned him and asked that the boy be taken back,” the ombudsman said. A Russian citizen met the boy in Moscow’s Domodedovo airport and then took him to the Ministry of Education and Science. As it later turned out the boy’s parents had paid the guide $200 for this service.The boy’s name is Artyom Savelyev. He was born in Vladivistok and was adopted by an American couple half a year ago. They gave him the name Artem Justin Hanson. Pavel Astakhov added that the boy was carrying a Russian international passport with an American visa. The ombudsman added that the boy did not speak Russian but could understand it.
