Victory Parade, to be held on May 9 on Red Square, will open to the strains of one of the most famous songs from the Great Patriotic War: Sacred War (Svyaschennaya Voyna). Soldiers will carry the Victory Banner and flags of Russia and Military forces as this piece is played. The orchestra will comprise 1200 people, including French, British and US musicians. According to chief army conductor of the Russian military forces Valeri Khalilov, this will be the first time that Russian and foreign musicians have performed together for the parade.
Conductors from foreign military orchestras have already visited Moscow. During the rehearsal, held on Khodynka Field, they were shown where their orchestras would stand in formation.
