The terrorist group Daesh, also known as IS/Islamic State, claims to have shot down a US military plane in the western part of Anbar province.

Daesh claims that the US crewmembers aboard the plane are dead.

The jet was reportedly operating near Ain Al-Asad air base, run jointly by Iraq and the US.

US Central Command has denied the reports and maintains it has no evidence that a warplane has been downed.

American forces have been attempting to stabilize the province as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, conducting roughly 73 airstrikes in Iraq in the last week.
