Both major US presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, are setting new records for unpopularity in the era of modern polling, but Clinton is a distant No. 2 behind the billionaire, according to a poll by the Gallup organization released on Friday.

Majority of US Voters Say Clinton, Trump Would Not Make Good President
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The poll uses a 10-point scale in which likely US voters name a number between plus one and plus five, if they have a favorable view of a candidate, and minus one to minus five if their opinion is negative.

"In the race to the bottom," Gallup explained, "Trump's 42 percent highly unfavorable score easily outpaces Clinton's 33 percent."

Prior to the poll, the late US Senator Barry Goldwater held the bottom spot, being viewed unfavorably by 26 percent of US voters prior to his 1964 landslide election defeat, Gallup noted in a press release explaining the survey.
