Enjoying life finally has a place on the world’s calendar, now that the UN General Assembly passed a resolution appointing the March equinox International Happiness Day.

Not a single one of 193 members of the global body objected to the idea, the United Nations said on its website on Thursday.

The proposal was motivated by “the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promoted sustainable development and poverty eradication, and the happiness and well-being of all people,” the resolution said.

This is not the first time the UN has turned to the elusive concept: in 2011, it passed another resolution on the matter calling member states to pay more attention to making their populaces happier.

The date for the celebrations is March 20, an equinox day when day and night are of equal length. It is also Nowruz, or “Iranian New Year,” and World Sparrow Day.

International Happiness Day was pitched by Bhutan, a tiny kingdom in the Himalayas that runs a Gross National Happiness index since the 1970s.

The Bhutanese index is based on factors such as psychological wellbeing, health, education, environment, governance quality and living standards of the populace.

The economics of happiness became a legitimate field of academic research in the late 20th century, and various happiness indexes abound. One of the most prominent is Gallup’s Global Barometer On Happiness, the 2011 edition of which showed 31 percent of Russians are happy, well below the global average of 40 percent, not to mention the leader, Fiji, where 85 percent of the populace is happy.

Russia also placed 122th among 151 countries in the latest edition of Happy Planet Index by the New Economics Foundation.

How about this idea for happiness day.

Encourage every child in each country to draw, color and paint a piece of artwork that shows what they LOVE about 1) their friends and family, 2) their community, 3) the city where they live, 4) their country. Assemble this artwork into a series of country specific Video Postcards with high energy dance music. Share via YouTube around the world.

I'm actively involved in this type of work at this moment.

Currently I have sponsored a children's baseball team in Kiev, Ukrainian to draw, color and paint me artwork on these very themes what they LOVE about 1) their friends and family, 2) their community, 3) the city where they live, 4) their country.

This children's artwork is being included into a series of Day 2 - Canadian Tulip Festival Video Postcards.

If RIA Novosti would like a link to these completed projects when they are uploaded to YouTube, please drop me a Facebook message.

The photos and artwork are matched with high energy dance music. English, French, Russian and Ukrainian.

    ------------

The origin of this concept was developed back in 2007 by Arnold Vinette and art teachers in Orshanka, Russia, Yoshkar-Ola, Russia and perfected in 2008 by Russia's most famous children's art teacher in Volgodonsk, Russia Elena Trekina.

Volgodonsk, Russia is the most children's art oriented city in the entire world.

So it was only natural that this concept be perfected there.

So how can the entire world celebrate happiness and involve all the world's children?

It is very easy and will create 4 million new jobs worldwide.

Encourage every child in each country to draw, color and paint a piece of artwork that shows what they LOVE about 1) their friends and family, 2) their community, 3) the city where they live, 4) their country. This very concept has been introduced to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Russian First Lady Svetlana Medveva, American President Barack Obama and American First Lady Michelle Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Canadian First Lady Laureen Harper in 2009.

This is a practical concept that can be implemented worldwide.

The facilities exist in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada to begin this worldwide project that will benefit the entire world. The concept is in place. It works. And it empowers children the world to show what they LOVE about where they live through their artwork and creativity.

The United Nations can contact Arnold Vinette through Facebook at Arnold Vinette.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper can be contacted through normal political channels.

The future worldwide artwork processing facility can be located in Gatineau Quebec located at 200 Boulevard de la Technologie. This facility has been vacant for 4 years and would be ideal for the project. Job creation for the Ottawa area would be around 10,000 to 20,000 new full time creative jobs.

Worldwide job creation in the arts and art supplies is estimated at 4 million new jobs.

Spinoff jobs in the technology sector would pump $4 trillion a year into the San Francisco Bay area hardware and software technology companies including Intel, AMD, National Semiconductor, Applied Materials, Microsoft, Adobe, Acer, Dell, Gateway, Apple, Hewlett-Packard, Google, Facebook and others having a ripple effect around the world.

Creating a Happiness Day is just good business for the entire world.

Arnold Vinette's Happiness Day concept has now been submitted to the United Nations for review and possible implementation.

Special thanks to all Russian Art Teachers and Russian Art Students for helping me to develop this concept that may be approved for the entire world.
