Russia’s first Formula One racing competition, that took place Sunday in Sochi, was attended by 65,000 spectators, Krasnodar Territory Deputy Governor Alexander Saurin stated Sunday.

MOSCOW, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russia’s first Formula One racing competition, that took place Sunday in Sochi, was attended by 65,000 spectators, Krasnodar Territory Deputy Governor Alexander Saurin stated Sunday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Khalifa, who held talks with Putin the same day, were also present at the venue.

The 2014 Russian Grand Prix, running over 53 laps, or 309.745 kilometers (192.475 miles), took place in the southern resort city of Sochi from October 10 to October 12.

Mercedes team racing driver Lewis Hamilton won the Grand Prix, while Russian driver Daniil Kvyat finished in 14th place. Mercedes team became the World Constructors Champion-2014 with 565 points.
