All F1 Teams to Take Part in Sochi Race, Infrastructure Ready: Russian Official

All the teams will participate in the Formula-1 Russian Grand Prix as expected, the infrastructure is ready, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who is also the head of the event organizing committee, said on Friday.

NOVO OGARYOVO (Moscow Region), October 3 (RIA Novosti) - All the teams will participate in the Formula-1 Russian Grand Prix as expected, the infrastructure is ready, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who is also the head of the event organizing committee, said on Friday.

"The infrastructure is currently ready," Kozak said at a Cabinet ministers meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"It is an absolute certainty that it [the Formula-1 race] will be held at a rather high level," Kozak stated, adding that all teams will participate in the Grand Prix.

According to Kozak, over 50 percent of tickets for the event have already been sold.

Hotels, built for the Sochi-2014 Olympics will host visitors and guests. Vladimir Putin highlighted that this is part the plan to continue using the Olympic infrastructure after the Games.

"This is real life after the Olympic Sochi," Putin said.

Only two F1 races have ever been held in Russia. They took place in 1913 and 1914 in Saint Petersburg. The race was then abandoned following the beginning of the World War One.

One hundred years later, on October 12, the sixteenth race of the 2014 Formula-1 season will take place at the Sochi Autodrome.

The Sochi Autodrom is 5.852 km (2.637) miles long and comprises 19 turns. The maximum speed, which can be achieved on the track is 320 km/h (199 mph).
