Russia's Anna Avdeyeva, the 2011 European indoor shot put champion, has been suspended two years for doping, the All-Russian Athletics Federation said in an online statement Wednesday.

MOSCOW, August 28 (R-Sport) – Russia's Anna Avdeyeva, the 2011 European indoor shot put champion, has been suspended two years for doping, the All-Russian Athletics Federation said in an online statement Wednesday.

The 28-year-old tested positive for a banned substance identified as the anabolic steroid Oral Turinabol on July 30 while training in Podolsk, near Moscow.

The suspension, which began August 5, runs through August 4, 2015, and will keep Avdeyeva out of the 2014 world indoor championships in Sopot, Poland.

In addition to her indoor gold, Avdeyeva claimed bronze at the 2010 European championships in Barcelona. She also competed at the London 2012 Olympics but failed to qualify for the final.

According to the federation, Avdeyeva is the 25th Russian track-and-field athlete to be suspended for doping violations since January 1.
