MOSCOW, August 25 (R-Sport) - Chelsea and Anzhi Makhachkala have agreed on terms for the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Willian to the English Premier League side, the Blues reported Saturday.
British media reported earlier that the 25-year-old star would cost Roman Abramovich's side 34.9 million euros, though Chelsea was silent on the price.
"Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with both Willian and his club Anzhi Makhachkala for the transfer of the Brazilian player," the club said in a website statement.
"The transfer is subject to a work permit hearing on Wednesday."
According to reports, his teammate Samuel Eto'o was also part of the deal with the Cameroonian available at a bargain 2.3 million euros should Chelsea take Willian. But Chelsea did not mention the 32-year-old striker.
Either way, Eto’o and Willian are set to become the latest casualties of Anzhi’s massive roster shuffle since slashing their budget dramatically at the start of the season to focus on developing local talent. The club has already offloaded seven first-team players.
Anzhi remain winless in six Russian Premier League matches this season after losing 2-1 to FC Krasnodar on Saturday.

Some people are trying to make the reality in Russia at least a bit more humane. The amnesty should apply not only to persons involved in high-profile cases, but also to individuals who are not as well-known. It is better to set free at least some of the individuals who deserve to be released than no one at all.
