MOSCOW, August 19 (R-Sport) – Russian hockey side CSKA Moscow will make a return to the annual Spengler Cup tournament in Davos, Switzerland, the organizing committee announced Monday.
The last time CSKA appeared in the six-team invitational was 1991, when they won the Cup.
The Spengler Cup is held between Christmas and New Year’s Day and usually features clubs from Canada, Russia, host Switzerland and other European countries.
Thsi year, CSKA joins the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, HC Vitkovice of the Czech Extraliga and Geneve-Servette and Davos of the Swiss National League A.
Defending champion Team Canada, which was able to recruit several locked-out NHL players last year, also returns to Davos.
