MOSCOW, June 26 (R-Sport) - Polish midfielder Maciej Rybus slammed rumors Wednesday linking him with a move away from Chechnya's Terek Grozny to a number of football clubs including Russian former champions Zenit St. Petersburg.

Rybus, 23, has attracted admiring glances since joining Terek last year and racking up seven goals in 30 games from the left wing. He has been linked to Zenit, Spartak Moscow, Rubin Kazan and Dynamo Kiev this summer.

“I’m staying at Terek,” he said on the team's website, calling the transfer claims “just rumors on the Internet and in newspapers.”

Rybus said his aim was to help lift the club higher than their ninth-place Russian Premier League finish last season.

“I want us to play in European competitions,” he said. “It didn’t work out for us last season, so we need to try to do it now.”

Terek manager Stanislav Cherchesov was fired on the last day of the season and replaced by Yury Krasnozhan, who Rybus said was “a good coach.”

Rybus has earned 23 caps for Poland, scoring twice.
