KRASNODAR, Russia, April 1 (R-Sport) - Russian soccer players restrained a drunken passenger who attacked his wife on a recent flight, with the incident captured in a video that has gone viral online.

Footage shows players of the third-tier team Chernomorets Novorossiysk overpowering the enraged man, who was later fined 1,000 rubles (about 32 dollars) in court for hooliganism.

While flying from Istanbul to the southern Russian city of Krasnodar on Thursday, the 27-year-old man “began to argue with his spouse and, in the course of the conflict, hit her,” a spokesman for the regional transport police department for southern Russia told RIA Novosti on Monday.

“The violent man was pacified by other passengers and on the ground he was handed over to police officers.”

Chernomorets confirmed their players were involved in the incident but refused to comment further when contacted by RIA Novosti.
