An $81 million high-tech training complex for Paralympians in Russia will open the city of Ufa by 2015, local officials said Wednesday.

MOSCOW, March 20 (R-Sport) - An $81 million high-tech training complex for Paralympians in Russia will open the city of Ufa by 2015, local officials said Wednesday.

The Paralympic Sports Center will boast an athletics stadium, swimming pool and fencing hall.

“The center will include several modern buildings,” the city government said in a website statement.

“In one of them, there will be a demonstration center with a big show room for 1,500 spectators that will be divided into four parts with movable partitions for competitions in different sports.”

The complex will also hold medical facilities and a hotel capable of housing 200 people.

The province of Bashkortostan, where Ufa is located, has a record of pioneering disabled sport in Russia and contains the first center in the country specially designed for disabled athletes, which opened in 2011.

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said last summer that similar facilities would be built in all 83 regions of the Russian Federation.

The first Russian Paralympic Games will be held in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi from March 7 to 16 next year.
