Dynamo Minsk apologized to Dinamo Riga on Monday for playing the wrong tune in place of the Latvian national anthem.

MOSCOW, December 10 (R-Sport) – Dynamo Minsk apologized to Dinamo Riga on Monday for playing the wrong tune in place of the Latvian national anthem.

The incident took place Sunday in the Belarusian capital before a game that the host won 2-1.

Riga acting coach Artis Abols lashed out at the organizers, stating that “the Latvian anthem in local reproduction didn’t even remotely resemble the Latvian anthem.”

Dynamo Minsk blamed a software malfunction.

“Due to reasons beyond the technicians’ control, a software failure occurred during the reproduction of the Latvian anthem,” statement said.

As an act of goodwill, Minsk is offering to provide Dinamo Riga with 100 free tickets for the fans to their next clash on January 3.

The teams have clashed three times this season, with the Belarusians grabbing two victories and suffering one defeat.
