MOSCOW, December 9 (R-Sport) – Ex-Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi struck twice Sunday as Dynamo Moscow pulled out a 2-1 win at Terek Grozny, continuing their impressive revival under Dan Petrescu.

A fifth consecutive victory raises Dynamo to eighth in the league, just two points behind fourth-placed FC Kuban, while Terek remain fifth with 32 points.

It was sweet revenge for Dynamo after suffering home defeat to the Chechens with the reverse score in August.

Kuranyi scored the opener on 12 minutes, lashing home Christian Noboa’s flick-on from a corner.

Brazilian striker Ailton equalized in the middle of the second half with an accurate header off a left-wing cross from Fyodor Kudryashov.

It took Dynamo only four minutes to restore their lead, as Kuranyi sent a bullet header into the top corner of the goal after another corner from Austrian winger Jakob Jantscher.

Petrescu opted to play experienced goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky over Anton Shunin, who had fully recovered from burns to his eye when a flare was thrown onto the pitch during a game against Zenit St. Petersburg in mid-November.

Terek missed an early chance when Berezovsky parried the ball onto the crossbar after Igor Lebedenko’s header before grabbing at the second attempt.

Three minutes later, Terek goalkeeper Yaroslav Godzyur clawed away a header from Dynamo captain Leandro Fernandez.

The hosts shifted into top gear after conceding goal and Berezovsky had to demonstrate all his skills to block two close-range shots by Lebedenko and Maciej Rybus.

Dynamo’s top scorer Alexander Kokorin should have sealed it on 85 minutes when he broke clear but stabbed his shot against the post.

In the first match of the last round before the winter break, a brace from Brazilian midfielder Wanderson fired FC Krasnodar to a 3-2 win at FC Rostov on Friday.

On Saturday, FC Volga scored a surprise 1-0 away win over Lokomotiv Moscow, Alania Vladikavkaz drew 0-0 at nine-man FC Kuban, and Krylya Sovetov bagged a first win in 11 matches by beating Amkar Perm 2-0.

Later Sunday, league leaders CSKA Moscow play bottom team Mordovia Saransk.

Then on Monday, Rubin Kazan host Spartak Moscow before the match of the round, third-placed Zenit St. Petersburg vs. second-placed Anzhi Makhachkala.
