MOSCOW, December 2 (R-Sport) – Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin hit three goals to take his lockout team Dynamo Moscow past Donbass Donetsk 4-2 on the road.

The victory allowed Dynamo to extend its lead at the top of the Western Conference while KHL newcomer Donbass remains outside the playoff zone in 10th.

Ovechkin scored twice in the first period, with Toronto Maple Leafs center Leo Komarov recording two assists.

Finnish defenseman Janne Jalasvaara made the score 3-0 shortly before the first break, but the hosts managed to pull two goals back in 25 minutes via Tuomas Kiiskinen and former Florida Panthers wing Evgenii Dadonov.
