MOSCOW, November 30 (R-Sport) - Eurosport has signed up to broadcast KHL games across parts of Asia and Oceania, the hockey league said Friday.
The two-year deal, which excludes China and Japan, allows Eurosport Asia-Pacific to beam up to 60 games per season to the region.
"This agreement is an important step in spreading the KHL brand," the league's vice-president for commerce and communications Ilya Kochervin told R-Sport.
He called the broadcaster an "ideal platform" to popularize world-class hockey in new markets.
This season has seen the league, in its fifth year of existence, reach record global audiences, with the NHL lockout helping secure a lucrative deal with American broadcaster ESPN last month.
Eurosport's first KHL game will be 2011 champion Salavat Yulaev Ufa against reformed team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl later Friday.
