A second-period blitz gave Barys Astana an emphatic 6-2 win over Yugra Khanty-Mansiisk in an all-Eastern Conference KHL clash on Tuesday.

MOSCOW, November 27 (R-Sport) - A second-period blitz gave Barys Astana an emphatic 6-2 win over Yugra Khanty-Mansiisk in an all-Eastern Conference KHL clash on Tuesday.

Barys moves up to eighth in the conference after the win on home ice in Kazakhstan, overtaking Metallurg Novokuznetsk, while Yugra is 10th.

Yugra led for much of the first period after Maxim Belyaev opened the scoring on 2:50, before Barys forward Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev struck back for Barys.

Five goals in 14 minutes sealed the game in the hosts’ favor in the second period as Fyodor Polishchuk, Talgat Zhailauov, Maxim Spiridonov, Roman Savchenko and Konstantin Rudenko all hit the target to make the score 6-1.

In the third, Yugra’s wing Linus Videll scored one for the visitors.

Zhailauov finished the game with one goal and two assists for Barys, taking his statistics for the season to seven goals and six assists in 26 games.

Among Barys’ three lockout signings, Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning scored two assists, with one assist for Nik Antropov of the Winnipeg Jets.
