MOSCOW, November 25 (R-Sport) - Avangard Omsk beat Traktor Chelyabinsk 6-4 on the road to take the first place in the KHL's Eastern Conference on Sunday.

Avangard now leads Traktor by three points and is on a four-game winning streak.

Jan Bulis and Alexander Perezhogin, who both played for the Montreal Canadiens in the 2005-2006 season, exchanged goals in the first period, with Bulis opening the scoring at 3:42 for Traktor and Perezhogin replying 11 minutes later.

Avangard fought back from a goal down three more times later in the encounter before defenseman Kirill Lyamin put last season's Gagarin Cup runner-up Avangard 5-4 ahead in the 51st minute.

Nashville Predators wing Sergei Kostitsyn added an empty-net goal one second from the final horn to seal the victory.

Also on Sunday, Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk stunned Evgeni Malkin’s lockout team Metallurg Magnitogorsk 2-1 in overtime on the road.

Yugra broke the deadlock in the end of the second period via Igor Skorokhodov, but the Pittsburgh Penguins star scored his 11th goal of the season at 48:35 to level the score.

In the second minute of overtime, Anton But scored the game-winning goal to hand Metallurg the fourth defeat in six games.

Both teams stayed in the same places in the Eastern Conference, with Metallurg third and Yugra 10th.

Elsewhere, Salavat Yulaev Ufa routed Dinamo Riga 7-3 at home as former Nashville Predators forward Antti Pihlstrom scored a hat trick for the 2011 KHL champion.

Salavat Yulaev took fifth place from Sibir Novosibirsk in the East, while Latvian team Dinamo Riga stayed in 12th in the West.

Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg suffered its 14th consecutive defeat at the hands of Barys Astana, which edged out KHL’s worst performing team 5-4 on the road.

The win allowed Barys to move into the playoffs zone in the East and clinch seventh place.
