MOSCOW, November 17 (R-Sport) - Rubin Kazan climbed to fourth in the Russian Premier League on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Russian Premier League minnows Alania Vladikavkaz.

Spanish defender Ivan Marcano scored his first goal for the club since joining from Villarreal in the summer, glancing Bibras Natkho's cross into the far corner.

Forward Alan Kasaev doubled the lead five minutes later, darting past two defenders on the left before blasting into the top corner in style.

Rubin's fourth win in four league games elevates them to 30 points, six off CSKA Moscow's lead, and sets Kurban Berdyev's side up nicely for Thursday's Europa League clash with Inter Milan.

Alania, playing their first game since Vladimir Gazzaev resigned as coach to be replaced by his father and club president Valery Gazzaev, remain second-from-bottom on 10 points.

It is the Caucasus club's fifth-consecutive loss and 11th game without a win.

Earlier Saturday, lowly Volga held Spartak Moscow to a 1-1 draw, and a match that Dynamo Moscow were leading 1-0 against Zenit St. Petersburg was abandoned after Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Shunin was hit by a missile thrown from the crowd.

On Sunday, CSKA look to extend their three-point lead at the top against strugglers Amkar Perm; Mordovia Saransk play FC Kuban; and Anzhi Makhachkala host David Bentley's FC Rostov.

The round ends with two matches Monday: Lokomotiv Moscow travel to Krylya Sovetov and FC Krasnodar entertain Terek.
