CSKA Moscow winger Mark Gonzalez has undergone emergency surgery on his thigh, the club said Monday.

MOSCOW, November 12 (R-Sport) - CSKA Moscow winger Mark Gonzalez has undergone emergency surgery on his thigh, the club said Monday.

The ex-Liverpool midfielder suffered a major hemorrhage into his thigh after an impact in training ahead of CSKA’s 3-1 away win against FC Kuban on Saturday.

The surgery to remove the hemmorhaged blood took place at a Moscow clinic where Gonzalez is recovering, CSKA said in a website statement.

Gonzalez, 27, joined CSKA from Real Betis in 2009 on a five-year deal and has since 9 goals in 58 matches, but has developed a reputation for being injury prone.

The winger missed almost of last season with hip and knee problems before returning to action in July, since when he has played nine times off the bench for CSKA.

The team lead the Russian Premier League by three points from reigning champion Zenit St. Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala.
