MOSCOW, November 10 (R-Sport) - A Kevin Kuranyi double gave Dynamo Moscow a 2-0 win over newly promoted Alania Vladikavkaz on Saturday.

The former Germany international latched onto a long ball to lift it over onrushing goalkeeper Dmitry Khomych on 27 minutes.

The 30-year-old forward headed a second from an 85th-minute corner, taking his tally from a lean period to three in 12 games.

Dynamo's sixth win of the season sees them join 10th-placed Amkar Perm on 18 points as Dan Petrescu's side slowly recover from their worst start in Russian league history.

"There's no point in saying what we did badly and what we did well, the main thing is that we won," striker Alexander Kokorin said in televised comments.

Alania put in a spirited performance but only seriously threatened Anton Shunin's goal in injury time, Zaurbek Pliev scuffing wide in front of an open goal.

They stretch a winless run to 10 games with their ninth defeat of the season and remain second-from-bottom, one point ahead of Mordovia Saransk.

Alania coach Vladimir Gazzaev submitted his resignation Monday's 2-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers FC Volga.

Club president Valery Gazzaev, his father, said it would be accepted once a replacement is found.

In Saturday's game, Petrescu gave 19-year-old winger Ivan Solovev his first Russian Premier League start after the left-footer impressed in the 2-1 cup win over second-tier side Khimki last month, setting up the winner.

He had another stand-out performance as a constant threat down the left flank.

Kokorin missed a sitter early in the second half after a clever through pass from Kuranyi, dragging wide from six yards out.

Later Saturday, Terek Grozny host Mordovia and CSKA Moscow play FC Kuban.

In the first match of the round on Friday, FC Rostov ended their six-game winless run in emphatic style Friday with a 3-0 home thrashing of Amkar Perm.
