MOSCOW, November 5 (R-Sport) – Nadia Petrova thrashed Caroline Wozniacki in the final of the Tournament of Champions in Sofia to win her third singles title of the year.

Petrova blazed to a 6-2, 6-1 win to clinch her 13th career singles title.

The triumph Sunday caps a great year for the Russian, who has risen from 29th to 12th in the world and tasted doubles success with bronze at the Olympics and the WTA Championships title.

"I'm trying to bring the good years back right now,” the 30 year old said in comments on the WTA website. “Hopefully with the preparation I'm doing in the off-season for next year, you'll be able to see the old Petrova.”

Petrova is aiming to go one better next year and qualify for the WTA championships, saved for the top eight.

"I would love to play singles in Istanbul next year," said the former world No. 3.

Wozniacki, who had finished top of WTA rankings in 2010 and 2011, had a rough year, winning only two tournaments and descending to 10th in the world, but still remained positive about the next year.

"I'm very pleased with how I finished the season,” Wozniacki said. “I'm very much looking forward to the new season as well.”

The WTA Tournament of Champions is a $750,000 season-ending event for the players who didn’t make it into WTA Championships but captured at least one title during the season.
